Black Birds in White Branches

A gathering of rooks

Gala Water, Southern Scotland  -   last winter.

At dusk
the gray
foxes
stiffen
in cold;
blackbirds
are fixed
in white
branches.
Rivers follow
the moon,
the long
white track
of the
full moon

The rooks are splendid, you have really caught the movement of the trees and them moving in the branches. I thought I recognized that river! But such snow! And none this year.
I also like the way rooks hang out together and sometimes take off together in loose rooky clouds

I love all the birds together! The snow makes for great pictures, but I'm glad I don't have to be in it!

Lovely birds, and delightful and bright color in the sky.
Beautiful moon shoot!

We have snow-covered meadows, and cold days!
It's winter!

Hi,Ruby,
Many beautiful photos! I like the stillness in the blue sky. Those black birds are also waiting for spring to come around!

Lovely photo collection...I saw the grackles sitting in a tree that looked so much like the photo you posted. I like the title "Poe Comes to Roost" :)

We see also a herd of black bird around here, but there is not white snow. So I have seen a beautiful contrast with black and white for the first time.
Have a good days!

Wonderful shot of group of birds on the bare trees.

Great shots all. The blackbirds are simply astonishing and remind me of the nursery rhyme:

Sing a song of sixpence,
A pocket full of rye.
Four and twenty blackbirds,
Baked in a pie.

Die Fotos erinnern mich an Hitchocks Film "Die Vögel". Bei uns vor dem Haus stand ein Birkenbau, auf dem sich die Raben auch immer niederliessen. Leider wurde er abgesägt.

Lovely photos of the stark beauty of winter.

I feel the frigid air in the picture with dots like black birds flocking together on the white naked branches waving in the wind. Harsh but beautiful.
The cold moon is radiating a mysterious power.
Stay warm, Ruby.

You chose nice photos fitting to the poetry. The five iamges inevitably led us to your moon photo and the poetry in the last. Your scheme is so successful, ruby. Stay warm.
