Beauty and the Beast

Beauty and the Beast - The Universe within and without.
Textile wall hanging : assorted  fabrics, paint ,gold stitching beads and sequins.

Detail

Bleeding Heart,or Lady in a Bath  :  Dicentra Spectabilis.

Beauty in the picture gallery of the Beast's  castle.
This illustration is from one of my favourite childhood books.

Now displayed in it's present home in Australia : photo by owner.

The idea to make this wall hanging came after seeing the Disney film in the late 1990's. The red and white connects
with the book illustration, the star systems link us to the universe, and the heart to love, the healer.

Wow! When I saw the first photo I knew that it was made of many parts, and your second shot confirmed my amazement! When I see your textile art I think about the many steps required and this one is mindboggling.

The colors are favorites of mine and I am glad that you showed that last photo in order to have an appreciation of the size. Just wonderful and I am sure that it is well-loved by the owner. Bravo!

Stunning! Gold stitches with beads and sequins look like constellations. Universe in the burning big heart is immense. I understand very well how the owner has loved this work. The room becomes far more than home sweet home with your work.

Stunning work of stitchery. Your second photo would make a first-rate abstract painting! Fantastic!

Opulent and fantastical...it's as stunning in the close-up detail as it is on the wall. And what a size! The work that went into it is astonishing.

A red heart holding an infinity of space! It looks like twinkling stars and neburas within the heart.
I'm looking forward to visiting here.

Gorgeous, I love the intensity of the reds; It reminds me of how our 'hearts' are made up of lots of different bits of love, making a whole that is greater.
