The idea for the wall hanging emerged one summer afternoon a few years ago
on this beach,my favourite in East Lothian.
The land lies within the John Muir Country Park,an area of about 80 square km. between the towns
of  Dunbar and North Berwick. The park was created in honour of John Muir (1838-1914),best known as the father of American National Parks, who spent the first eleven years of his life
in the nearby town of Dunbar.

We took my son's spaniel Louis with us on our walk earlier this week -  and here he is chasing sand flies.

Bass Rock can be seen in the distant right of the picture.
Seacliff beach and North Berwick are on the other side of the headland.

The red sandstone rock is typical of the area.

A coastal path known as John Muir Way runs 70km. from Edinburgh city boundary to the
Scottish Borders.

Common Ragwort is poisonous to farm animals but is beautiful and smells of honey.
Insects love it!

Scentless Mayweed

Common Thistle,Grasses and Cat's Ear

Happy dogs!

Estuary of the River Tyne,Dunbar town is top left.

On the edge of the Park this field of barley looks in surprisingly good condition
despite our rainy summer.

That looks like a wonderful day out. What a gorgeous place to roam and sit and admire the view. Lovely contrasts between sea and fields; the best of both worlds. The art piece is beautiful and I am particularly taken by that golden line that traverses its length, unifying it all and blessing it like a sunbeam.

superb, both the wall hanging and the photos - amazing the way the colours of the hanging reflect the actual colours of the landscape, at least on this day, when the sea is such a vivid blue.

John Muir is quite well known in the US and it is interesting to see the park you have shown us. Your earth, sea, sky wall hanging is just divine. Your use of color is stunning and the gold line truly connects all the elements.

The emptiness of your landscapes is beautiful. A beach without people, we hardly see this here. I like the dog catching sandflies.

Seaside is the place where the sky, the sea and the earth meet. I feel like that I’m listening to the symphony created by the wind, clouds, and the sound of waves. The red sandstones, black rocks, the blue sky contained in the puddles, grasses and wild flowers create a fascinating world in a little muted tone. Your wall hanging represents all of these.

That landscape takes my breath away, dear Ruby!
The sky goes on forever....
I really love this work, and the meaning behind it. Very beautiful!
So calming, yet complex.
I am a great admirer of John Muir, and how wonderful that you have this splendid park named in his honor.
This looks like a perfect day out, Ruby...and what a fun picture of Louis!
I thank you so much for your visit...you are so right regarding the resemblance of lace...nature never ceases to amaze me.
And yes, the finale with the lighting of the cauldron was so beautiful...the rest was shall we say "interesting"! :)
I love having your perspective, thank you so much...
Love and light,

I remember well visiting Muir Woods national monuments in America. That's where I wanted to go. You have this spacious park in his honor.
Your wall hanging is so good with your idea about the gold line which connects everything from earth, sea and sky. I feel the energy from the earth go through every elements to the sky, including through us as well.

Sometimes, I see sunlights coming out of crackes of clouds and reaching the earth. I admire and am amazed with its divine scenery. Your gold line remind me of the lights.
The sun, sea, land in your art are the gift from nature. It depicts the essence of the beauty of his park.
Ruby, How symbolic and beautiful beyond words!!!
