Winter Solstice is a very important celebration in our cultures, regardless of the religion.
It is a beautiful moment of the year for me as from now on daylight is gong to increase, very slowly at first but we will still feel the power of Nature.
Winter Solstice has another huge meaning for me as it is my Dad's birthday and he is celebrating his 80th one despite his Alzheimer! This is a beautiful day!
Thank you for these marvellous snowy shots, ther is so magic in them!
A meery festive season!

Hi,Ruby.
The contrast between the blue sky and the white snow is fantastic! Every wood and forest stand out in the snow. I love your silvern world's photos. Here in Nara we rarely have much snow and see those snowy scenes.
Photographers have to rush to go out for taking snowy shots as snow is gone soon.
I hope you are well and that you are finding some joy in this Christmas season!

Those glazed trees and iced woodlands are lovely to behold, bringing a special light of their own to this season of darkness. It feels as if my energy has reached its lowest point as well and I look forward to its return, along with the gradually increasing light of day.
I wish you renewed zest and creativity and great inner peace for the coming year (note, it's going to be 2012, Ruby!)

Very beautiful photos in Scotland!
Forest with so white snow has a special mood. I imagine fairies come out of among trees.
It's quiet solstice. We take a bath float yuzu( a kind of orange)on the day.Our body warm well in this cold season.
I wish you a happy holiday season!

Hello, Ruby! There are beautiful natural Christmas trees in the winter wonderland! It feels cold but strangely glinting snow and blue sky makes me feel warm. Heavy snow is forecasted in northern Japan, and we are having very cold days here in Nara, too. We are facing the coldest months ahead but the knowledge daylight is increasing makes us feel assured that spring is not far behind. Celtic origins of winter solstice is interesting as well as that of Halloween. Traditionally we eat pumpkin (I don’t know why) and have a hot citron bath, the bath in which “yuzu” are put and set afloat, on winter solstice.

Wish you a peaceful Christmas and all the best in the New Year.

Hi, ruby
Nature is genius. How beautifully it decorates itself with a white shroud and transforms into a different world. I love white, the most beautiful color. Stunning photos.
Have wonderful holidays and Happy New Year!
