Barley fields last week - East Lothian |

On the right the road follows a historic estate boundary wall. This road leads to a country park created in honour of the American environmentalist John Muir who lived in the nearby town of Dunbar until the age of eleven, when his family emigratrd to America. He would have known this area well. |

The wall is probably at least two or three hundred years old. |

This really is a splendid series of pictures and reminds me so much of a visit to Scotland three years ago. I suspect that much of that barley will be going into a potent potable which I wouldn’t mind tasting!

Beautiful glimpses of your area. That barley must be so pretty dancing in a breeze. Interesting about John Muir too, I did not realize that he was born in another country. He made quite a name for himself over here.
I am an admirer of conservationist John Muir, so I liked seeing the place where he grew up and appreciate that it has been made into a park. Your photos of the area are beautiful!

The fields still look rather green at your place. Here all the grass has turned into yellow driy desert!

Lovely fields! Just saw a package yesterday of barley in my favorite grocery store, and have to find some recipes to use it in:)
John Muir is well known to me, as he frequented what is now called, Yosemite Nat. Park, where I do many of my plein airs.
Who would not love that centuries old wall, and the mansion - beautiful!

I think fields of waving grains or grasses are beautiful Your photos have me wanting to be there.
I love the golden fields of grain... we grew up in wheat country -- the barle is even more lovely I think!! beautiful greens as well.

Beautiful!!! I visited Scotland last year and fell in love. After 2 weeks I realized I need months to see what I wanted to see and that still would not be enough! We never got to this area ... so much more to do. Great photos!

Dear Ruby – I’m back to blogging after a long break. Our long summer was terribly hot and humid, which made me almost idle except playing with my grandchildren. I heard it was much hotter this year even in Scotland, too. Right?
