Motor Museum

Deep in the East Lothian countryside lies a unique little motor museum.

The collection, started in 1966, is comprised of cars, commercial vehicles, motorbikes, pedal bikes,
toy cars and all manner of related memorabilia.

Most of the vehicles are in running order -  some take part in rallies and film shoots.
I've shown a small selection of what was on show the day we visited.

1938 Citroen traction avant (front wheel drive)
The model was first introduced in 1934.

The car shown here was restored in 1984 for the 50th anniversary and took part in the
Paris-Moscow-Paris rally organised to commemorate the event.

1923 Arrol Johnston  -  built in Dumfries, Scotland  .....

1935 Packard straight 8  -  last registered in British Colombia  .....

1938 Matchless 1000  motorbike  .....

1931 Austin 7 Swallow -  it is on loan to the museum and has been owned by
the same family since 1947  .....

1948 Vauxhall 14  (centre)  .....

Ford Zephyr  -  circa 1960 (centre)
1925 brown Morris in the background  .....

Behind the Zephyr is a 1926 Chrysler Edinburgh Evening News van.
It is the sole survivor of a fleet used to deliver newspapers in and around Edinburgh.

1961 Humber Super Snipe  .....

1956 Austin A50  .....

1961 Morris Minor Traveller .....

Thank you for visiting

I would LOVE to own one of them (anyone of them).

These are gorgeous old cars. Our first one was similar to the Citroen, a Morris. But the News van wins the prize, for me!

For some reason I love classic cars and lived for 15 years in a neighborhood where some neighbors always worked on their classic car:) Many thanks for showing all these models to ALL SEASONS! Had no idea that the Citroen was that old! Have a fun week:)

Great cars! I took my Dad to a place with a similar collection here and he loved it. We couldn't drag him away!

Great photos! The colours of these cherished cars really stand out as I scrolled through your post. My dad was a mechanic and loved old cars. He would have been so happy to visit that museum. I think of him every time I come across beauties like the ones you photographed.

Beautiful oldtimer! And: between all the venerable old limousines I see the typically car of the former GDR, a Trabant, hehehe -

Grand old cars. I especially like the vintage ones - they look like they were crafted with passion, not churned out of a factory by the millions.

WOW, Ruby, you made my day! It's nice to see some brands that are "foreign" to me. What an amazing collection, cars and transportation have been an important part of history. Thanks so much for sharing and I hope to see you back again.

What beautiful old vehicles. They were likely someone's pride and joy at one time. Cars don't seem to be as interesting nowadays.

Happy New Year, Ruby.
Antique cars are always interesting to see. I enjoyed them today!

Dear Ruby - Starting with the simple beauty of winter landscape, this post is full of mechanical beauties. Looks like you were enthusiastic about shooting. I’d become so when visiting this museum. Classic cars are lovely to see, especially the vintage ones. My husband’s current car is modern hybrid Prius but he longs for a vintage car with the installment of modern technology. 3-year-old boy Y loves any vehicles. He enjoyed seeing this post. With the best wishes for you and your family in 2017.
