Autumn Fields

Autumn fields........

Road to the beach ........

Wild flowers on the shore .......

Today the sea has an ethereal quality.
I'm reminded of Edward Lear's poem about the owl and the pussy-cat,and imagine
them sailing off over the horizon to far away lands .......

The Owl and the Pussy-cat

The Owl and the Pussy-cat went to sea
 In a beautiful pea-green boat:
They took some honey, and plenty of money
Wrapped up in a five-pound note

                                                              More ........

Edward Lear (1812 - 1888) was an English artist, and writer of humerous nonsense poems.
First published in 1871, "The Owl and the Pussy-cat" has become one
of our best known children's stories.

Pastoral scene painted by Lear during travels in the Balkans.

Morelle Smith has written an interesting post about him   -  HERE

I love a sandy beach with waves lapping on the shore. Our coast is mostly rocky, but interesting in its own way. - Margy

What a calm and inviting autumn landscape have you got over there. Truly it suits Lear poem somehow, and the will to travel.
I've surfed through your Lear links. I have very much liked the way he traveled. Thanks for the tip - an inspiration for future travels.

Absolutely beautiful Autumn greens, golds, and blue! I love these scenes. And that was the first poem I ever memorized for school. Sixty years later and I still know it! ( too bad that the maths and sciences didn't stay with me as well😀

Hi! The poem of the owl and pussy cat is very interesting. and a little bit funny. I like the seashore and blue sky photos very much. The painting is breathtakingly beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

The curving swirls of the cut grass is lovely, but my fave is the top one with the birds, black AND white, in the distance.

Dear Ruby - Did Edward Lear get inspiration from the ethereal sea like your photo? I don’t understand why The Owl and the Pussy Cat is a “nonsense poem”. His choice of words is interesting. Not logical, but comfortable rhyming created beautiful images. I like the photos; on the land, the fields merge with the sky at the green belt and the sea merges with the sky at the horizon – very nice, needless to say, the seagull and the wild flowers.

We have had some wonderful blue skies lately which you've captured. And that seagull - looks as if it has just found where it truly belongs. I Like the Lear - of course! and thanks for the link.
Also in the previous post, good to see the images you mentioned.

Ciao Ruby, these fields of autumn are spectacular, and beautiful is the sea that finds the calm and silence, a hug and a kiss from Italy !
