Goodbye Dandelions !

Dandelion seed head.

Each amazing flower head ingenuously produces around two hundred florets which
become tiny airborne parachutes.

This year, because of the cold spring, dandelions appear to have had
an extended season. I found these growing on a country roadside last week.

Ready,steady,go!

Seed heads about to explode and fly with the wind.

Such a magnificent head of fairies these wonders sport and sprout. When I was a child I always tried to catch a few as they floated through the air believing that if I caught one of these "fairies" I could have a wish granted. But they had a trick habit of turning into a tiny piece of seed fluff when caught.

Wouldn't it have been wonderful to have caught a photo had a gust of wind hit. Awesome photos. Thank you. I do tend to sneeze when around them.:)

That first one is perfect. My husband took a similar photo of an almost perfect sphere of seed this week too. I love these pictures Ruby; I love dandelions, the bees need them, they are a well needed splash of yellow before becoming rather special (particularly if you are 45 going on 4).

It looks like a dandelion head has light sources, each unit is a luminous body like a header photo.
So dreamy and fluffy but strong intention to survive.
Butter cup field is very beautiful!
Enjoy beautiful days, Ruby.

Hi,again,
It is time for dandelion to start long traveling. Let's enjoy travel with them in our mind. It is a dreamy and floating trip. Where they will fly and land....
However we do not have to worry after their landing. They are vigorous flowers.

Have a beautiful weekend,Ruby.

The first picture is marvelous. it's too bad that such beautiful shape is destroyed by wind. But thanks to the wind, how long can they travel,I wonder.
Have a lovely day!

Ah, great to see you are still blogging, I have been away for a while, so have missed a few of your posts.
It is interesting how dandelions are seen as weeds. I have always seen them as something a bit more than just weeds.
They have lovely sunny yellow flowers and then change into fluffy seed heads. When I was little I used to play dandelion clocks with them.
Your first photo is amazing and a perfect danelion clock!
Best wishes,
Jo.
