My painting - "Pilgrimage - a journey" - (150 cm x 50 cm) Acrylic on canvas - the centre line (path) is gold. |
Detail The painting is at present out on loan, getting on with it's own life journey. |
Tree trunks often end up on the seashore like beached whales, waiting to be floated back out to sea on a powerful high tide. |
Their journey fascinates me. This one looks as though it escaped from a saw mill in mid procedure! |
Saw marks, decay spots and growth markings create interesting patterns. |

lovely days and nights to you ~
Love your painting.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful details in your post. Love the things the ocean brings to the shore:)Many thanks for sharing this with All Seasons - Have a great week:)
ReplyDeleteHave a question - since you posted an art work - would you like to post that for the WEEKEND JOURNAL PAGE of December 8?
All you have to do is use this same post, and add a few lines about your "process" (how you came to paint it, what your thoughts were, how the painting progressed - if there were changes, things like that).
You link -not with a photo - but with your perma link in your comment of the Dec. 8 post. (in wordpress it is done a lot that way and gives no technical problems). Hope to see you there -you can link till January 3!
Great textures and a way through wonderful blue1
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your time
Nice patterns and texture!
ReplyDeleteIf I can find driftwood, I'm happy.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful finds on the beach along with your wonderfully colourful painting. It is so sad that there is so much pollution of all the oceans and beaches now.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful new week.
I love to comb the beaches when I am at home in Newfoundland (Canada)...an island in the Atlantic and the finds are always amazing. Last summer we found not one, but two notes in bottles-one from Ireland and one from another part of Newfoundland. But of course, the logs, skeletons, shells etc. are incredible. Thanks for sharing your finds.
ReplyDeleteYour painting is lovely and your whole post full of eye pleasing texture! Happy Monday!
ReplyDeleteYour painting is very interesting I think I'd like to look at it for a while, I wonder where it's journey will end? I can certainly "see" a whale in the first driftwood photograph, simply fascinating.
ReplyDeleteSorry it's a flying visit from me this week but I still haven't shaken this cold,
Happy MM.
What a lovely painting. May be we all are pilgrims and following the path and sometimes get illuminated and illuminate others paths.
ReplyDeleteA joyful, peaceful, and fun journey is what I see. I like the depth of the yellow. :-)
ReplyDeleteHi, I can see a whale in that large piece of wood. Thanks for sharing. Sylvia D.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely painting! The gold route is beautiful. Your post reminded me of my English textbook I read a few years ago," Silk Road", and now I am reading "the Great Wall of China". I am always struggling with them though. The weather is turning into winter. Take care and have a good day,Ruby.
ReplyDeleteI love your painting. I can also see the beached whale in the tree trunk - love it!
ReplyDeleteHi,Ruby. Your painting is very cool. The painting out on loan will have a nice journey too.
ReplyDeleteThe Pilgrimage painting is lovely, and the background looks enticing! The log on the beach is extraordinary. When I looked at the first image I was trying to work out what I was seeing. It’s a very special feeling that, because it’s rare, for me anyway, I feel suspended in a delicious space a bit like waking up and not knowing where you are, I try to prolong it because it’s like a pure consciousness that’s fallen between the cracks of aligned or attached awareness. You see but you cannot place what you see. At first I thought I was looking down on a slope of snow, a landscape criss-crossed by many footprints. It was only when I saw the sand at the top edge I realised it was something on a beach. Gorgeous images and congratulations for such creative pictures.
