The life journey of a tree continues, washed up on an East Lothian beach .... The abstract patterns and markings interest me from an aesthetic viewpoint. Grafittied ..... |
Rotted ........ |
Sawn ..... |
Attacked by beetles ...... |
The trunk measures half a meter in diameter and three meters long ...... |
Burnt ...... |
The beetle holes were probably made by spruce beetles. Did this tree begin life further north in Scandinavia or Russia? |

Remarkable images of the patterns on the tree. The graffiti is rather poignant I think as it shows that the tree has been part of the lives of people and it's as if the tree's memory is shown on the outside. And then the collage of trees shows what it might have been - truly the life story of a tree.

An absolutely gorgeous post. I love to paint trees. You focus on the texture, color of the bark - beautiful and great design.Thank you so much for leaving SEASONS with the cute wagtail! You being a part of Seasons is much appreciated. Have a happy week and see you very soon!
ReplyDeleteBeauty is what you see and you found a new chapter to the tree's life, even after it ceases to live.
ReplyDeleteNature and humans leave signs everywhere. But the signs made by nature ar much prettier! Thank you for showing. Have a nice week!
ReplyDeletePreciosas fotografías, detalles muy bonitos.
ReplyDeleteSaludos.-
Beautiful photos, even though they made me a little bit sad. It was such a handsome tree once. Perhaps even from Scandinavia! :)
ReplyDeleteThe gorgeous collage made me happy again. And the cute wagtail of course.
Beautiful and sharp photos! A nice story following pictures.
ReplyDeleteIt is an amazing thing how what on first glance might seem like death is actually the perpetuation of life! I too love looking at fallen trees, the patterns of insects and woodpeckers, moss and lichens… nature is so amazing! Thanks for sharing the love up-close with I Heart Macro ♥
ReplyDeleteTextures from nature seem to be so beautiful and most inspiring!

ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your joy with all of us.
Have a Happy Day!

I would have done the same with the washed up log by examining it to find more about its journey and life story. Of course I bend over and check out/photograph dead fish etc. that I find too but it's all very interesting if you study these things, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteThe wagtail is a new bird to me, I like the colouring.
Dear Ruby - The rotten wood has beauty of its own, especially the beautiful patterns of somber colors. I like it when you focused on the details.

I also am intrigued by the textures and things that go on in a trees life. I remember a forest ranger saying that trees are much like humans with their health and diseases. That has stayed with me and i watch and wonder.
ReplyDeletethank you for sharing your wonder-full images.
These are truly interesting textures on these examples of wood...they almost look as if they were created by an artist's paintbrush!
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely details!
