My first thought when I saw these assorted objects brought in by the tide was that they looked like a sculpture assemblage. |
I'm not quite sure why but they brought to mind Jean Tinguely's kinetic sculptures. Jean Tinguely (1925-1991) was a Swiss born artist, best known for his kinetic works. |

Beautiful bright blue January sky….love the sculptures too!
I love the kinetic sculpture but the floating trash, not so much. ;)
Love that first photo!

I love the sculptures, pretty scenic views and the lovely sky. Wonderful series of photos. Happy Sunday!
Lovely pictures and I agree wit you about the artist. We know now where his inpirations came from!
This colourful fountain is very funny but I like the reflection of a beautiful blue sky in water too...
Beautiful photos...
When I first saw your first pic, I didn't thought of a sculpture assemblage, but more something like : "(rolling eyes) great. More pollution. Human beings are really huge pigs"
But that only my thought : I'm a pessimistic person. Your post is great anyway, and after reading it I understand what you wanted to say.
Great reflection.
Beautiful beach treasures! I love the texture on the log.
intriguing pieces, thanks for sharing,
have a nice Sunday
much love...
Fascinating and wonderful photos! Great!!!
What a beautiful series! I think the low tide image is my favorite… quite serene. The textures and colors in all the other photos are wonderful too. Thanks for sharing the love up-close with I Heart Macro:-)
Beautiful capture.
Beautiful photos! I especially like the reflection of the blue sky in the first photos!
today also struck me with january's impossibly blue sky. thank you for sharing yours...every glimpse revealing your ability to find sacred in the ordinary.

Intriguing sculpture, As I saw your first photo I remembered the shore washed off by the big earthquake in Japan in 2013.
Also the sculpture standing by the sea looks a building survived. This is a very personal idea of me. I appreciate that blue sky and seabirds in peace, which implies restoration in the future.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful photos, Ruby.
Hope 2014 brings a lot of happiness to you.
You had a lovely walk on the beach. Those objects on beach are sometimes inspirational. : )
Hi! Nice captures. I did not know the name of Jean. His Art is very fascinating. I like your sesshore and sky photos very much.
Wishing you a wonderful week ahead.
Sorry, I made a mistake.
washed away by the earthquake in 2011.
Astonishing amazing and breathtaking images !
A different kind of beach wreck - although not connected to mine it feels like they could be.

The barnacle covered log is superb but then all your photos are! Glad you are seeing blue skies too, which is also my recent theme. Didn't know that Tinguely was married to Niki de St Phalle. I enjoy her colourful sculptures so much, they decorate the fountain near the Centre Pompidou in central Paris as you say and they are part of the brightness and unusual and whimsical shapes, colours and styles of that area.

Amicalement.

Wonderful artistic shots.
They do look like sculptures! Nice shots.
Really interesting post, ruby. I understand why those assorted object on the seashore reminded you of Jean Tinguely's kinetic sculptures. Maybe he got inspiration from the similar things. I love clear blue sky of January.
May your 2014 filled with smiles and unique creativeness.

The conception of Kinetic art is very interesting. The difference between low tide and high tide is large.Including it,thank you for sharing the big nature in the North Sea.
May you have happy 2014.
I love your artistic eye, dear Ruby!
I hope your New Year is off to a beautifully creative start...thank you for inspiring us to keep our eyes open to beauty and art everywhere....
Have a splendid week, sweet friend...
Hugs and blessings,
- Irina
Yes, that driftwood really does look like an assemblage - great comparison to Tinguely I see that sculpture is out in the water, too!
Hi Ruby,
Long time no see!
The picture of the fountain in central Paris rang a bell. The style, the color, yes, I remember seeing the works of Niki de Saint Phall at a small island here featuring modern art works from around the world. Maybe Tinguely's now that I see your picture, though I am not sure.
I'm looking forward to visiting here this year too.
